Poetry: The Wild Knight
The title for this blog comes from a poem by the inestimable G. K. Chesterton. The imagery in this poem has always captivated me, and I think can serve as a meaningful standard for any Christian. Here's an excerpt:
So with the wan waste grasses on my spear,
I ride for ever seeking after God.
My hair grows whiter than my thistle plume
And all my limbs are loose; but in my eyes
The star of an unconquerable praise:
For in my soul one hope for ever sings,
That at the next white corner of a road
My eyes may look on Him.
What can be more meaningful than a knight -- a man who is totally dedicated not only to love but to serve his master? And in our souls just one hope should forever sing ... that our eyes may look on Him.
